How do you see the future of Castle Gateway? How does it feel? How does it sound? How do the stories we tell about the past help shape the future? Join the conversation #eyeprojectyork

Eye Project

Over the summer, Kaizen Arts CIC have been working with 4 artists*, Inkblot Films + English Heritage, plus hundreds of York’s young people to explore the way we shape the Castle Gateway through a major development of the site, all part of the City of York Council’s public engagement process. We made zines, banners, we animated some serious characters from history, we made architectural time lapses, modelled mounds, planted seeds, and did lots of talking. This community led project has developed so many exciting narratives about the potential for the new public realm, and engaged the next generation in a conversation about urban development, environment and democracy.
